The 5 days Congo tour gives you a matchless experience with the endangered mountain gorillas, hike to the most active volcanic mountain in the world’s and the Eastern lowland gorillas in the Kahuzi Biega national Park.
Day 1: Kigali transfer to Gisenyi Lake Kivu
Our representative guide/driver will pick you from the hotel and drive towards Goma in DR Congo via Gisenyi for lunch. You will have an opportunity to interact with the local people and great views of lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight at Bukima tented camp.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga national park.
After the morning breakfast, you will carry your packed lunch from the lodge and drive to the park headquarters for briefing on the procedures for gorilla trekking. At 8:00am you will start your journey trekking through the forest trial to search for a habituated gorilla family. This journey will reward you with an encounter with other mammals such as monkey, elephants, and many bird species. After finding the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one full hour with them learning about their behavior and taking memorable pictures of the Gorillas. Dinner and overnight at Bukima tented camp.
Day 3: Hiking Nyiragongo Volcanoes
Your will have breakfast than drive to mount Nyiragongo for briefing. The hiking into crater of Nyiragongo starts and takes 5-6 hours climbing to the summit. You will start your journey at about 10:00am and arrive at about 4-5pm in the evening depending on the fitness of the participants. Dinner and overnight in tented camps at the summit.
Day 4: Descend to the bottom and transfer to Kahuzi Biega national park.
After morning breakfast descend from the top summit camp to the bottom and meet your guide to transfer you to Kahuzi Biega National Park the home to the lowland gorillas. Dinner and overnight stay at Orchid safari lodge.
Day 5: Lowland Gorilla trekking and departure.
After the morning breakfast you will head to the park headquarters for registration and briefing with your packed lunch like you did for the mountain Gorillas. You will later embark on this great adventurous activity of tracking the lowland gorillas in their natural habitat to learn about them and have more insight about their general behavior. You will later return and drive to Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
