Rwanda’s 7 days’ tour feature the most thrilling safari experience with the physical encounter with the world’s most endangered primate specie the mountain Gorillas in the Virunga mountains. The canopy walk at Nyungwe forest is also a major highlight of this as you walk on a suspended walk way on top of a forest.
Day 1: Arrival
You will be welcomed by our representative upon arrival at Kanombe Airport in Kigali who will transfer you to the hotel in Kigali for dinner and overnight. Hotel Chezlando (budget) Hotel Mille Collins (luxury).
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After an early breakfast, transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park with a visit to the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former Kings in Nyanza. Enjoy your drive past the green fields of tea scattered on the rolling hills and the small wooden houses unique to the areas around Nyungwe Forest. The drive may take you up to 6 hours. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
Day 3: Nyungwe Forest Guided Canopy nature walk
after a delicious breakfast early in the morning, you will head out for a canopy walk with in the forest. The canopy walk in Nyungwe is one of a kind in the whole of East Africa and is good for birders with a variety of bird species seen on this suspended path on the top of the forest. Look out for bird species like the Rwenzori Turacco and large troops of colobus monkeys. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon for chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
Day 4: Nyungwe to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali visiting the Botanical Gardens and the cultural museum in Butare and have lunch in Kigali. You will then drive north of Rwanda to Kinigi via Musanze. This journey offers you beautiful views of the rolling hills for the country side of Rwanda arriving Volcanoes in the evening hours. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park
gorilla tracking will be the highlight of your trip start with an early breakfast at the lodge or guest house, you will then head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for registration and briefing. You will start gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park the home to over 10 habituated gorilla families. Meet face to face with our closest relatives as you watch them go about their daily activities in the forest feeding and playing. Gorilla tracking can take over 2 to 8 hours with in this jungle depending on the movement of these apes. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 6: Dian Fossy’s grave and research center
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park offices for briefing, then you can hike to the Karisoke Research center which was established by Diane Fossey a well-known primatologist who dedicated her life to the conservation of the Gorillas. She was however brutally murdered by poachers but her legacy still stands. You will visit her burial grounds in the middle of the forest and learn more about what she did for the gorillas. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 7: Departure
You will transfer back to Kigali after breakfast for a short city tour and visit the genocide memorial sites and the traditional markets with in Kigali, craft shops and drive to the Airport to take your flight.
