This 7 days’ safari is an excellent choice for travelers who wish to see Africa’s six most sought out creatures in their natural habitats. The tour also features an encounter with golden monkeys, mountain Gorillas and cultural visits in Rwanda and the Masai. The tour starts from Rwanda and ends in Kenya.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival and Pickup in the evening

This day is reserved for your arrival and relaxation. You will be picked up from the airport by our representative who will be your guide and driver to take you to your hotel in Kigali. Dinner and night stay at Heaven Hotel Kigali.

DAY 2: City Tour & Drive to Volcanoes National Park

Wake up early for your breakfast as you wait for your guide to drive you to the city center to explore the beauty of one of the cleanest cities in Africa. You will be taken for a city tour including visiting the city museum, the genocide memorial site, the former king’s palace, city markets and art shops. After this amazing time in the city, you will have lunch and depart for the Volcanoes National Park in the north of Rwanda. Enjoy the countryside as you drive towards the park and arrive in the evening and check in at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Mountain gorilla view lodge.

DAY 3: Golden Monkey Trekking & the twin Lakes of Ruhondo and Burera

Wake up early for breakfast and transfer to the park offices for briefing on the rules of Golden monkey tracking. The park guides will share information about the golden monkeys, how to get prepared for the hike and what not to do while in the presence of these primates. Golden monkeys live in the same area as mountain gorillas though they prefer the lower slopes of the volcanoes because of the bamboo trees. They feed on tree shoots, fruits, seeds and insects just like the gorillas. They will at times raid farms whenever they can for potatoes. They are only found in Rwanda, Uganda and Congo in the virunga mountains. Watch them play, feed and climb trees, they are very playful and stubborn. You will be allowed to spend one full hour with these primates after which you will be taken back to your hotel for lunch and rest. In the evening, you will be taken to visit the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo as well as nature walks around the park. You will later drive to Bwindi arriving in the late hours of the day and check in at Bakiga Lodge for dinner and night stay.

DAY 4: Gorilla Trekking Bwindi & fly to Nairobi

Take breakfast early in the morning and start the journey to the park offices for briefing on gorilla trekking rules. You will be split in groups of 8 people and will be assigned a habituated gorilla family to track. Gorilla trekking is a very exciting adventure because it exposes you to beautiful scenery of the Gorillas, birds and butterflies. You will be allowed only one hour with these primates taking memorable photos. Gorilla tracking takes between 2 to 6 hours including one hour with these primates. Return to the park headquarters to get your certificate of participation. You will then embark on your journey back to Kigali international airport for your flight to Nairobi. On arrival in Nairobi, a driver will be waiting for you to welcome you to Kenya and take you to the hotel for check-in. Dinner and night stay at Meridian Hotel Kenya or Sopa Lodges.

DAY 5: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Wake up and take breakfast as you wait for the Guide/Driver to lead you to a Masai Mara for another exciting moment. This journey will be exciting as you drive through amazing Kenyan countryside and the Great Rift Valley. You will pass by Masai villages and see one of Africa’s great nomads attending to their domestic animals. You will have lunch at the lodge and have an evening game drive that afternoon. Look out for the big five mammals including Rhinos, Buffaloes, Elephants, Lions and Leopards. Dinner and Overnight at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.

DAY 6: Entire Day of Game drives at Masai Mara

Take your breakfast early in the morning and get ready for the drive to Masai Mara National Reserve to spend the whole day there in game drives in different sections of the reserve. Expect to see the big cats, elands, giraffes, antelopes, zebras, rhinos and elephants. The afternoon is excellent for driving to the mara river to spot the wildebeest and other animals cooling off the hot weather by the shores of the river. Dinner and Overnight at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.

DAY 7: Visit the Masai Village & Departure

Have your breakfast and head out for for a cultural visit to one of the Masai Villages to explore their cultural values and later leave Kenya at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
